Initial arrangements
It can be a
challenge for family and friends to co-ordinate a meeting to make
the initial arrangements. We want people to feel as relaxed and in
control as possible. This might mean visiting you at home, or
alternatively our bright and welcoming premises in North West London
are located conveniently for parking and public transport.
Alternative and green funerals
People are generally unaware that there are very few rules about
what should or shouldn't happen at a funeral. There is no
requirement to have a minister of religion present or to transport
the coffin in a black hearse. There are at least seven biodegradable
options, including cardboard coffins, wicker, bamboo and papier
mache, from which to choose.
Celebrants
We
work with a number of celebrants whose spiritual outlook we match
with that of the person for whom the arrangements are being made.
The celebrant meets with the organising group or person to structure
the ceremony. She or he would assist those who want to speak, source
appropriate music or literature and can act as a master of
ceremonies at the funeral itself.
Making the process
'yours'
We make our premises available for decorating the
coffin with photographs, paintings, flowers, fabric or other
mementoes. The task of doing this can be a very beautiful ritual for
the bereaved. The only limits to decoration are of imagination.
We can also assist people to dress the body of the person who has
died. Those who have done so have said that it has been a deeply
moving experience.
Equally the service could incorporate
an exhibition of photographs, dancing and the playing of
instruments.
After funeral function
The
after-funeral function is an important gathering for friends and
family and we can work with the organising group to find the right
combination of venue and catering. This could be a cream tea at
home, a summer lunch in the woods, or a hot winter meal in a venue
of your choice.

We will give detailed
estimates of costs. We also offer a basic funeral service.
